Lagirith codec is widely used, it has better performance then fraps but also produces large files, nearly as big as fraps and is accepted by a number of programs.ĭxtory is my current recording program and is my favourite and use a codec called Utvideo 402 which has better performance then lagirith and close to its quality and slightly smaller files, files are still huge.ĭxtory can also use lagirith codec and a number of others though this is quite a advance software to use, not beginner friendly though many youtube tutorials on how to set it up. Shadowplay as I said uses a lossy variable bit rate to do what it does, which is not what you want in any way, a bad looking footage will just translate bad in the rendering and then worse in youtube.įraps has the best quality of any program still to this date but its still famous for being a system hog still to this day.īandicam default codec uses a lossy codec but a bit better then shadowplay, but good performance however though bandicam can use a number of codecs such as lagirith.
Shadowplay and MSI afterburner are free but to codecs are less then desirable for quality, they are ok but personally speaking rubbish quality hence why you get little FPS loss in shadowplay. I find OBS way toooo cumbersome and its still streaming software first and everything else second. Will be honest, have used a number of recording programs, in fact I own a licence for Bandicam and Dxtory, actually paid for, also used fraps, shadowplay and MSI afterburner tool which yes does have a video recording program built in which many do not know about.
